Afternoon

I noticed that when I update and reinstall on the ipad or iphone, I lose all the data that I have entered. I understand this would happen, but what about when user updates the app, what happens to the data ?

Also, if I am playing with the App and have some data in there, then I modify the code and reinstall, is there a way to preserve the data so that it is available on the update ?
